Elliott Cemetery - Hillsboro, AL
Just happened upon this cemetery on my way to another one. I often have my iPhone App on when I'm driving to show me how close I am to cemeteries and then I start looking for them when I'm within a half mile. That's the case of this one. I'm sure this is one cemetery, but there are several distinct areas fenced off, including one outside what I would call the cemetery itself, as it was attached to a residential area, I did not enter it, but it is included as a group photo in there. This is a sad little cemetery. It's apparent that it's used often, and fairly recently and that someone tends to mow a portion of the 'open' area of the cemetery, but they put no effort at all into getting off of their riding mower and maintaining anything else at all. It's also apparent that there Is a significant erosion issue in this cemetery as you can see in some of the newer graves that have sunken, been buried by dirt and run-off etc.... I would label this cemetery Active - Endangered.
